Facebook ad rejected? Common reasons and how to fix them

You build an ad, submit it, and it comes back “Rejected”. Almost every advertiser has seen this. The good news: most rejected ads can be approved once you find the reason and fix it.

Step 1: read the reason first

Open the rejected ad in Ads Manager. The system usually tells you which advertising policy it breaks. Understand the reason before you change anything, and don't keep resubmitting the same ad.

Common reasons ads are rejected

  1. Exaggerated or misleading claims: guaranteed results, “100% success”, offers that aren't real. Use specific, truthful wording instead.
  2. Personal attributes: lines like “Are you in debt?” or “Are you overweight?”. Ads may not imply they know a user's personal situation; describe your service instead.
  3. Image or creative issues: exaggerated before-and-after images, shocking visuals, fake buttons.
  4. Landing page mismatch: the ad says one thing and the website or WhatsApp says another, or the page doesn't load.
  5. Restricted industries or products: some categories need extra qualifications or can only run under certain conditions; check the platform's policy before advertising.

Step 2: edit and resubmit

  • Fix the wording, image or landing page according to the reason, then resubmit.
  • If you're sure the ad complies, request another review in Ads Manager and explain your ad.
  • Change only the part in question, so you know what caused the rejection.

Habits that keep your account healthy

  • Don't submit many similar non-compliant ads; repeated violations can restrict your account.
  • Build a good record on new accounts with stable, compliant ads before raising budgets.
  • Keep landing pages clear and honest, with contact details and company information.
  • Check the Account Quality page regularly and act on warnings.

Work with a team that knows the policies

Frequently asked questions

How long does a re-review take?

After editing and resubmitting, review usually finishes within a day, sometimes faster. A requested re-review may take longer.

Will a rejected ad hurt my account?

An occasional rejection matters little, but repeated violations in a short time can restrict your account, so fix the cause first.

Can I keep resubmitting the same ad?

Not recommended. An unchanged ad will usually be rejected again and may add risk to the account.
