How much do Facebook ads cost in Malaysia?

The first question most business owners ask about Facebook ads is: “How much will it cost per day?” The answer: there is no fixed price. You decide how much to spend, but what that money brings back depends on a few key factors. This guide explains them.

How are Facebook ad costs calculated?

Facebook (Meta) ads run on an auction. You set a daily budget and the system competes for impressions within it. Common ways of being charged:

  • Per impression (CPM): charged per 1,000 impressions, suited to awareness.
  • Per click (CPC): you pay when someone clicks, common for traffic campaigns.
  • Optimised for a result: such as messages, leads or purchases; the system spends on people most likely to take that action.

Whichever you choose, you never pay more than the budget you set.

5 factors that affect your cost

  1. Competition for the audience: the more advertisers targeting the same people, the higher the price. Festive seasons and year-end are usually more expensive.
  2. Campaign objective: messages, leads and purchases all cost differently. Objectives closer to a sale usually cost more per result but bring better quality.
  3. Creative quality: engaging images and videos get more clicks, and the system rewards them with cheaper impressions.
  4. Audience settings: too narrow raises costs, too broad can waste budget, so testing matters.
  5. Industry: competitive industries such as finance and property tend to cost more.

What daily budget should a beginner start with?

In our experience, most local businesses can start testing at around RM50–RM100 per day (also the starting budget our packages suggest). With too little budget the system learns slowly and it is hard to see what works. Test for one or two weeks, then increase once results are steady.

  • Week one: test 2–3 creatives and audiences side by side, and avoid changing things too quickly.
  • Week two: pause the weak ones and move budget to the winners.
  • After that: raise the budget gradually so the system has time to adjust.

Ad budget vs. agency management fee

If you work with an ad agency, costs usually come in two parts:

  • Ad budget: paid to the platform to buy impressions.
  • Management fee: the agency's fee for planning, setup, creatives, daily optimisation and reporting.

At AdsHub, management fees and suggested budgets are listed openly on our pricing, the ad budget goes fully into ads, and daily spend is visible in your client dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum I can spend on Facebook ads?

Facebook allows very small daily budgets, but with too little budget the system struggles to learn. For a local business we suggest starting around RM50–RM100 per day.

Can Facebook spend more than my budget?

No. Your daily or lifetime budget is the limit, and the platform delivers within it.

What else do I pay when I hire an agency?

Usually a management fee for planning, creatives, optimisation and reporting; the ad budget itself is paid to the platform.
